Retail Connect is a project launched under the Multimedia Super Corridor
(MSC) E-Business Flagship Thrust, is an industry-driven initiative in collaboration with Tradenex,
GS1 Malaysia to standardize the product data across retailers and suppliers in the retail industry
to achieve data and transaction accuracy. It is part of the efforts in propagating e-commerce
activities in the Retail Sector, particularly in the trade relations between manufacturers and
their trading partners. The infrastructure and technology that is provided, connects manufacturers,
distributors and retailers, thus facilitating the adoption of electronic trading within the community.
On a broad perspective, this project strongly reflects the need for Malaysian business to be
empowered with the tools of emerging technologies in their pursuit to improve operational efficiency
and consequently escalate competitiveness in the global economy.
