NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Press Release
This release is to clarify a few points made by Lee
Min Keong, ZDNet Asia in the article entitled "OOXML
gains some favor in Malaysia" (Tuesday, January
15 2008 05:26 PM)
KUALA LUMPUR, 28th January 2007 - TradeNEX.com
Sdn Bhd (TradeNEX) wishes to clarify with ZDNet some
points that may cause some misunderstanding with regards
to the joint Microsoft and TradeNEX Press Release published
on the 18th of December 2007.
Tradenex.com's relationship with FMM
We wish to clarify that TradeNEX is not the IT arm
of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers.
No doubt that TradeNEX is a subsidiary of the FMM,
however it operates independently to address the IT needs and best commercial/ market interest of
TradeNEX and the Malaysian manufacturing companies.
In fact, FMM members are always free to choose which vendors to work with
and are not exclusively tied to Tradenex.com.
Therefore, we wish to state that TradeNEX and its affiliated commercial partners have
no influence, representation, nor bearing on FMM's public and internal policies.
We hope this clarification is sufficiently clear because the said article implied that by using
OOXML as one of nexCONNECT's messaging systems, and since TradeNEX is a FMM
subsidiary therefore FMM supports and seemingly endorses OOXML.
TradeNEX does not want to fuel the flames of the current "war" between OOXML and ODF.
TradeNEX is as open to ODF integration as it is with OOXML.
